Do you ever wonder if you deserve the things you have?
I don’t deserve what God has given me. I feel undeserving, unworthy, and unsuitable. It’s due to God’s grace that we have anything at all.
Grace is such a hard word to define. I know I can easily look it up in the dictionary, but I think the word is much bigger than that. So much bigger! The concordance in the back of my Bible is filled with verse after verse about the word “grace.” In fact, it appears in the Bible127 times.
From the very beginning God provided grace, starting with Adam and Eve. God could have chosen to wipe the slate clean with His creation after they sinned. He could have taken away free will and decided on something different. Instead of starting over, God offered Adam and Eve abundant grace, just like He offers it to us today.
Grace: a free gift that is completely unearned.
Don’t forget that from the very beginning God established a plan for us, providing grace to all of His children.
And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him. Luke 2:40
I think I have a hard time accepting things I have because I know I don’t deserve them. I struggle to accept and embrace God’s grace in my life. God wants us to accept His grace because it cleanses us from sin.
[All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus. - Romans 3: 24
If you’re having a difficult time accepting the things that God has given you, just know that God has established a plan of grace from the very beginning. He wants you to have it and is holding His hand out to give you the greatest gift anyone could ever give. Take it. Accept it. Embrace it. Live it.
